Damongo is the capital of the Savannah Region, a young administrative town with one big reason travelers come: it is the gateway to Mole National Park, Ghana's largest wildlife reserve. The town itself is small and growing fast on its new regional status, with a frontier feel and the wide savanna horizons of Gonja country all around.
Most visitors pass through on their way to the park, but Damongo repays a stop. The ancient mosque at nearby Larabanga, the Mystic Stone and the rhythms of a Savannah market town make it more than just a junction. Our business directory is still growing this far north, so treat this guide as your planning companion.
